About Columbus:

Columbus is a village located in Luna County, New Mexico. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 1,765.

On March 9, 1916 Pancho Villa led 1,500 Mexican raiders in an attack against the town. The raiders burned the town and killed 17 residents. (More Info and Source)
